For a final project in a graduate level mechatronics course, I developed three autonomous "hockey" playing robots with two team members. I led the electrical team, creating a system that integrated IR sensing, motor control, a Wii sensor, and an experimental solenoid puck kicker. All development occurred over four weeks.
The robots used star-gazing localization techniques to find position and orientation on the rink. I wrote Matlab scripts during this phase to debug algorithmic errors, communicating over USB between an Atmel based microcontroller and a computer.
